Commercial Vehicle Transporter (Non-CDL)

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $20-$25/HR Based on Experience

Job Summary: Blue Collar Customs is seeking a reliable and professional Vehicle Transporter to operate our under CDL tow truck. This role is focused on vehicle transport rather than traditional towing and recovery. The primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently transport light and medium-duty commercial vehicles to and from our facility. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, as they will frequently interact with customers and vendors, ensuring a professional and courteous experience.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Transport new and upfitted commercial vehicles to and from customer locations and vendors.

  • Perform vehicle inspections before and after transport to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Maintain a professional and customer-friendly demeanor while representing Blue Collar Customs.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal team members to coordinate pickups and deliveries.

  • Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety policies.

  • Keep the transport vehicle clean, well-maintained, and in safe operating condition.

  • Assist with loading/unloading as necessary, ensuring proper securement of vehicles.

  • Document trip details, including mileage, delivery times, and any vehicle issues encountered.

  • Provide feedback to management regarding vehicle transport logistics and potential improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL not required).

  • Prior experience operating a rollback, flatbed, or tow truck is a plus.

  • Ability to drive and maneuver light/medium-duty commercial trucks safely.

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; must be comfortable interacting with clients.

  • Basic knowledge of vehicle securing and loading procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports or any level of supervision.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily on the road, transporting vehicles between customer locations and our facility.

  • Exposure to various weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicles.

  • Interaction with customers, vendors, and team members in a professional setting.

  • Requires sitting for extended periods while driving.

  • May involve light physical labor, including securing vehicles for transport.

  • Work schedule may include early mornings or occasional weekends based on delivery needs.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:

  • Employment Type: This is a full-time position.

  • Work Schedule: The normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

  • Overtime: Overtime opportunities are available as the work schedule demands and will be compensated accordingly.

Travel:

  • General Travel Requirements: Travel for this position is generally regional.
