Job Summary: Blue Collar Customs is seeking a reliable and professional CDL Vehicle Transporter (Regional) to operate our company transport truck equipped with a sleeper cab. This role is focused exclusively on vehicle transport — not traditional towing, roadside recovery, police rotations, or AAA service work. The primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently transport light and medium-duty commercial vehicles to and from our facility, dealerships, vendors, and customer locations throughout the Northeast region.
This position is ideal for a professional CDL driver comfortable with regional travel and overnight trips. The role requires strong time management, adherence to DOT/FMCSA regulations, and the ability to operate independently while representing Blue Collar Customs at a high level. The ideal candidate will have strong customer-facing soft skills, as they will regularly coordinate with fleet managers, dealerships, and commercial customers to ensure a professional and seamless delivery experience.
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Vehicle Transport (Regional Routes):Safely transport light and medium-duty commercial vehicles to and from Blue Collar Customs, dealerships, vendors, and customer locations throughout the Northeast region. This role focuses strictly on transport — not roadside recovery, police rotations, or AAA service work.
· DOT & Hours of Service Compliance: Operate company CDL transport truck with sleeper cab in full compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service requirements and ELD logging.
· Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of the transport truck and transported vehicles before, during, and after trips. Accurately document and report any issues.
· Vehicle Loading & Securement: Load, secure, and unload vehicles using proper tie-down methods and safety procedures to prevent damage or shifting during transport.
· Route Planning & Time Management: Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery timelines while remaining compliant with federal driving regulations.
· Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with customers, fleet managers, dealership personnel, and vendors during pickups and deliveries. Maintain a high level of professionalism while traveling and representing the company overnight.
· Trip Documentation & Reporting: Complete electronic logs (ELD), inspection reports, mileage records, and delivery confirmations accurately and in real time.
· Equipment & Sleeper Cab Care: Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper condition of the truck, sleeper cab, and all transport equipment during multi-day trips.
· Independent Work Execution: Demonstrate strong accountability, decision-making, and problem-solving skills while operating independently on regional routes.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Valid CDL License: Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Must meet all DOT medical and qualification requirements.
· Safe Driving Record: Maintain a strong safety history with no major violations. Demonstrate defensive driving habits and mature decision-making during long-distance travel.
· Vehicle Securement Knowledge: Understand proper load securement, tie-down procedures, and safe vehicle transport practices. Prior flatbed or multi-vehicle transport experience preferred.
· DOT & Hours of Service Knowledge: Demonstrate working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and electronic logging devices (ELD). Ability to remain compliant during multi-day trips.
· Customer Service & Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, fleet managers, dealerships, and vendors throughout the Northeast region. Represent Blue Collar Customs at a high level while traveling.
· Independent Work Ability: Operate effectively with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability, trip planning, and schedule adherence.
· Time Management & Route Planning: Plan routes efficiently, anticipate delays, and adjust schedules while maintaining compliance and delivery commitments.
· Professional Appearance & Conduct: Maintain a clean and professional appearance and represent the company positively during overnight travel.
· Physical Capability: Ability to climb, bend, secure vehicles, and lift up to 50 lbs as required. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Reliability & Professional Maturity: Demonstrate strong dependability, responsibility, and sound judgment during overnight and regional assignments.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports or any level of supervision.
Work Environment:
· Regional Driving Environment: Operate throughout the Northeast region with multi-day trips using a company-provided sleeper cab. Overnight travel required.
· Road & Weather Exposure: Regular exposure to varying road conditions and seasonal weather while transporting and securing vehicles.
· Customer-Facing Role: Frequent interaction with customers, dealerships, fleet managers, and vendors across multiple states. Professional representation of Blue Collar Customs is required at all times.
· Physical Activity: Regular climbing, bending, stepping in and out of trucks, and securing vehicles using straps and tie-down equipment.
· Extended Driving & Overnight Travel: Extended periods of driving combined with overnight stays in sleeper cab while remaining compliant with Hours of Service regulations.
· Independent Work Environment: Operate independently during multi-day trips while maintaining communication with management and adhering to schedules.
· Safety-Focused Environment: Strict adherence to DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards at all times.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
· Employment Type: This is a full-time position.
· Work Schedule: The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday. Multi-day regional trips are required, including overnight travel in a company-provided sleeper cab.
· Overtime: Overtime opportunities are available as the work schedule demands and will be compensated accordingly.
Travel:
· General Travel Requirements: Travel for this position is regional to multi-state and may include extended trips throughout the Northeast and surrounding states (e.g., Michigan, Virginia, etc.). Overnight travel in a company-provided sleeper cab is required.
